Job Description

The Radiation Therapist will administer ionizing radiation and radioactive substances to patients under the supervision of a Radiation Oncologist and in accordance with New York State Department of Health guidelines. The role requires operating high voltage machinery safely and accurately while ensuring the welfare of the patient at all times.

Responsibilities

• Provide radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by a radiation oncologist.
• Accurately enter and maintain patient treatment parameters into the electronic medical record.
• Interpret computerized treatment plans.
• Observe patients daily for reactions and report any adverse reactions to the Radiation Oncology Nurse or Radiation Oncologist.
• Facilitate complex problem solving regarding technical issues.
• Adhere to radiation safety protocols established by NYSDOH, ARRT, and ACRO.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must be licensed as a Radiation Therapist in New York (may obtain during onboarding).
• Must have ARRT certification.
• Satisfactory completion of a training program in an AMA approved Radiation Therapy Technology program meeting the requirements for registry by the ARRT.
