Night shift, 12 nights; 36 hours per week, with every other weekend required.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, while advocating for the care of individuals and families. The RN is responsible and accountable for compliance with all standards of practice and professional development in accordance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act and UHS Nursing Division policies, promoting a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
• Educate patients and families in health promotion and disease management.
• Administer medications safely in accordance with hospital policy.
• Participate in nursing shared governance and contribute to improvement initiatives.
• Engage in professional development and complete all mandatory education requirements.
• Provide support and guidance to new employees and students.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 3 years current experience working in an Emergency Department, with prior traveler experience.
• Knowledge in trauma, STEMI, stroke, sepsis, and pediatric care.
• Current New York State Registered Nurse License.
• BLS Certification from AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross.
• ACLS Certification.
