Job Description

The Department of Sterile and Materials Processing operates a state-of-the-art instrument processing and sterilizing facility. The Sterile Processing Department assists in the decontamination, high-level disinfection, assembling, sterilization, and distribution of clean and sterile surgical instruments, trays, and pans. These instruments are meticulously tracked using Getinge's T-DOC bar code system.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instrument pans, procedural trays, and surgical case carts.
• Operate steam sterilizers, ensuring time, pressure, and temperature meet established levels.
• Decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment while preventing cross-contamination.
• Receive and store supplies from vendors, ensuring stock accuracy and maintaining inventory levels.
• Conduct quality assurance checks on all sterile supplies and instruments, documenting all critical information.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Certified Sterile Processor (HSPA or CBSPD)
• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician (SPT)
• Hospital or ambulatory experience is required
• Travel experience of 6 months is required
• Two professional references from the last two assignments
• Experience with assembly, scope, and decontamination is preferred
• Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER Cert) preferred
