Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (18:00 - 06:30), Monday to Thursday. No weekends or holidays required.

Job Description

The RN Surgical Short Stay/Observation position involves working in a six-bay 23-hour observation unit inside a surgery center PACU. The unit cares for a variety of patients with services including Orthopedics (total joints, arthroscopy cases, hand cases, shoulder & elbow cases), Interventional Radiology (VIR), and GI (upper and lower scopes). The pre/post RN will closely collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and OR nurses to provide safe and effective patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive pre and post-operative care to patients.
• Conduct medication reconciliation and IV therapy/phlebotomy.
• Interpret and communicate lab values effectively.
• Assist in airway assessments and manage sedation protocols.
• Support a staffing model of two RNs and one PCT, with the possibility of adjustment to a 1-RN, 1-PCT model during lower census periods.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in the operating room setting.
• Active SC or Multi State/Compact RN license required.
• CERTIFICATIONS: BLS, ACLS required.
• Experience with respiratory protocols and IV therapy preferred.
