PACU Registered Nurse

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Shift: Days 6:00 AM - 3:30 PM, with variable call required from 3:30 PM - 7:00 PM at least once a week. Weekend call every 4 weeks is also required.

Job Description

The PACU Registered Nurse holds shift accountability for providing care to Post Anesthesia Care Unit patients, working closely with Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Surgical staff, and other personnel. The nurse utilizes the Nursing Process in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policy and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to post-anesthesia patients in a fast-paced, Stage II environment.
• Perform basic admission assessments for Same Day Surgery patients.
• Administer IV starts, manage medication reconciliation, and provide patient discharge teaching specifically for Endo patients.
• Demonstrate strong critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in planning safe delivery of care.
• Maintain clinical competencies through continuing education and supervision of assigned personnel delivering patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active RN Licensure.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
• Familiarity with managing patients with Type I/Type II diabetes.

Must be greater than 50 miles from the facility.
