Respiratory Therapist (Night Shift)

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

This is a night shift position with a schedule of 3 days per week, 12-hour shifts from 1900 to 0730.

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by offering intensive respiratory care and is responsible for patient transport in and out of the facility, as medically prescribed. Within the scope of their professional license, the therapist evaluates patients and recommends treatment plans, while ensuring effective communication with patients regarding the purpose and procedures of treatments, tests, and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments utilizing various ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers.
• Perform chest physiotherapy to aid in secretion clearance.
• Administer suctioning through various methods and perform oximetry and capnography monitoring.
• Review patient chest x-rays and perform pulmonary function studies.
• Assist with respiratory care-related procedures, such as bronchoscopy and chest tube placement.
• Monitor and maintain mechanical ventilation on various equipment.
• Document treatments and patient responses accurately in the respiratory care records and patient charts.
• Communicate effectively with attending physicians regarding therapy efficiency.
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with BLS and ACLS guidelines.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Candidates must hold a valid license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist and have relevant clinical experience in the field.
