Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team for a winter contract. This position will require working nights with a patient ratio of 1:3, and applicants must have a minimum of 1 year of experience, as first-time travelers will not be considered. The contract is set to continue into January, with the earliest possible end date being January 10, 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients during labor and delivery.
- Administer medications and assist with various procedures such as vaginal delivery and cesarean sections.
- Monitor maternal and fetal health, including the use of external fetal heart monitoring (EFM).
- Maintain central lines and peripheral IVs, and manage pain assessment and treatment.
- Participate in interdisciplinary support to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Manage emergencies, including hemorrhage and shock.
Qualifications
- Must possess a valid RN license for Maryland (MD) or Compact License.
- Required certifications: BLS, STABLE, NRP.
- 1 year of clinical experience in Labor and Delivery.
- Preferred experience in charge nursing and familiarity with Epic charting system.
- Travel experience is required; previous hospital experience, including LTAC and Trauma Level I or II, is preferred.
Work Schedule
Self-scheduling is available, with every other weekend required and holidays as scheduled. Floating within the specialty is expected.
Additional Information
Candidates must be comfortable floating within the hospital as needed and are also required to receive the flu vaccine (exemptions not allowed). Compliance documents must be submitted 5 days prior to the contract start date.
