Job Title: Medical Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN) for a night shift position. This role involves providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment while managing a diverse patient population. You will work on a unit with a normal patient ratio of 5:1 during the day and evening shifts, with a higher ratio on nights.

Shift Details

• Shift Type: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00)
• Patient Ratios:
  • Day and Evening: 5:1
  • Nights: 6-7:1 (Stretch Ratios 9-10:1)
• Minimum Years of Experience Required: 1 year
• First-time Travelers Accepted: Yes
• Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend (EOW)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with conditions such as spinal stenosis, PVD, diabetic ulcers, and lung carcinoma.
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias effectively.
• Utilize rapid response teams for critical situations.
• Perform duties such as vital sign monitoring, blood glucose checks, and basic nursing activities.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and more.

Qualifications

• Certifications Required: BLS, with preference for experience in utilizing Epic charting system.
• Special Skills Required:
  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Peripheral line care and management
  • Nasal cannula and oxygen management
  • Non-invasive airway management
  • Isolation precautions
• On-call Requirement: No
• License Requirement: Valid NY license (no pending licenses accepted)

• Patient Age Groups: Adults and Geriatrics
• Daily Census: Approximately 20 beds
• Orientation Hours: 5 hours
• Expected Float: Yes, within similar medical-surgical units.
