Job Description: Medical-Surgical RN

Shift Details

We are seeking a Medical-Surgical RN for a 12-hour day/night rotation shift, including weekends as scheduled. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing excellent patient care in a dynamic environment.

Unit Overview

• Unit Type: Medical-Surgical
• Bed Capacity: 52 beds (all private rooms)
• Patient Ratios: 1:6-7 (mostly 1:7 for both day and night shifts)
• Certifications Required: BLS, NIHSS (ACLS preferred)

Staffing and Support

• CNA Support: 4-6 CNA's per shift, ratios of 1:10-12
• Charge Nurse: Takes a full patient assignment with support from Clinical Assistant.
• Available Teams: IV Team and PICC Team available on-site 24/7.
• Pharmacy: In-house 24/7 with Pyxis system.

Patient Care and Responsibilities

As an RN in this unit, you will provide care for a variety of cases including:

• Orthopedic post-ops
• Neurosurgery post-ops (laminectomies, discectomies, spinal fusions)
• General post-ops (gallbladders, mastectomies, sleeve gastrectomy, etc.)
• Medical diagnoses such as COPD, pneumonia, cellulitis, and more.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS is a plus
• Experience with peritoneal dialysis preferred

Scheduling

• Shifts: 12-hour shifts (0645-1915; 1845-0715)
• Schedules are created for six weeks at a time with up to six requests off allowed.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (3 weekends out of a 6-week schedule; days on Saturday and Sunday, nights on Friday and Saturday)

Cancellation Policy

Standard policy applies: 2 shifts may be canceled per 13-week contract.

Charting System

The charting system used is Allscripts - Sunrise.
