Emergency Department Nurse - Night Shifts

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Emergency Department Nurse to join our team for night shifts. This position offers a dynamic work environment within a large academic center, focusing on trauma and critical care.

Shift Details

• Type: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
• No blocked scheduling; will float within the Emergency Department (ED)
• Parking: $50/month; ID badge: $10
• Flu vaccine required

Qualifications

• Active NJ or Compact license required at time of submission
• 2 years of experience required in a large academic center
• Recent Emergency Room (ER) experience required
• Trauma Level I or II experience required
• Experience with Pediatrics, Triage, STEMI, and Stroke required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
• TNCC class must be scheduled to confirm it can be obtained prior to start
• Preferable: Cerner charting experience

Patient Care Details

• Typical Patient Ratio: 1:6 (primarily 1:5 plus one hallway bed)
• Types of patients: All ED patients, plus observation and admitted boarding patients within the ED
• Facility: Urban Academic Acute Care Hospital, teaching facility (ED Residency Program), Certified Level II Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and STEMI Center
• Unique Situations: ED boards patients and has no separate observation unit; patients remain in the ED
• Staffing: Float within the ED but will not float outside
