Job Title: Respiratory Therapist

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport as medically prescribed, all while operating within the scope of their professional license and minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
• Explain treatment purposes and procedures to patients, providing necessary education upon discharge.
• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment, oxygen, and aerosol devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning using various methods.
• Monitor patients through oximetry and capnography as per policy.
• Review patients' chest x-rays and conduct pulmonary function studies according to policy.
• Assist with respiratory care-related procedures (e.g., Bronchoscopy, Chest Tube placement).
• Provide tracheostomy care and perform arterial punctures as per policy.
• Follow laboratory testing procedures including specimen handling and documentation.
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Manage mechanical ventilation and conduct equipment maintenance.
• Document treatments and communicate effectively with attending and pulmonary physicians.
• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging and data entry.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
