General Information:

The 5W Medicine unit is a fast-paced environment equipped with medical remote telemetry monitoring and a Cerner Patient Observation system. Each patient room features VC150 devices, and staff have access to workstations on wheels. The unit prides itself on a strong commitment to the care and improvement of human life.

Staffing Ratios:

• Day Shift Ratios: 1 Charge Nurse, 8 RNs, 3 CNAs, 1 HUC, and 1-2 Sitters (RN 1:5/6)
• Night Shift Ratios: 1 Charge Nurse, 7 RNs, 3 CNAs, 0.5 HUC, and 1-2 Sitters (RN 1:6/7)

Requirements:

Must-Have Skills:

• BLS Certification
• Medical Telemetry Experience

Preferred Skills:

• Leadership Experience
• Charge Nurse Experience
• BSN Degree

Typical Procedures:

While the unit does not perform procedures directly, we prepare patients for Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology, and Operating Room procedures.

Floating Areas:

Med-Surge: 3W, 5W, K8 (sister units)

Dress Code:

Scrub Color/Attire: Navy Blue top and bottom, white top and navy blue bottom, or all white.

Weekend and On-Call Requirements:

Must sign up for 6 weekend shifts every 6-week schedule. Weekend shifts include Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on night shift.
