Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a pivotal role in delivering quality care by ensuring adherence to nursing care plans. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees, embodying the core values of care and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to form individualized care plans.
- Identify teaching needs and goals related to patient diagnoses through assessments and collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide timely patient information and status updates for initial and re-evaluation team conferences weekly.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately, consistently, and promptly in accordance with policy.
- Engage in the patient rehabilitation program by applying the nursing process: assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
- Initiate discharge planning and patient education from the day of admission in anticipation of the discharge date.
- Communicate pertinent information regarding changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care and safety.
- Provide direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel and effectively delegate tasks.
- Ensure personal and environmental safety in line with hospital and nursing policies while fostering a positive unit environment.
- Assist in maintaining effective communication with management regarding resource needs and supply management.
- Assume charge responsibility as required and identify opportunities for professional growth through ongoing education.
- Prioritize activities for effective use of time and staff to meet the needs of patients.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
- BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS certification required prior to first shift (CIRH ONLY).
- Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
