Shift Details
Shift: 07:00-19:00
Unit Overview
Location: Hendersonville, TN
Unit Name: The Birth Center
Number of Beds: 20 LDRPs, 5 OB assessment beds
Patient Care Information
Patient Ratios:
- 1:3-4 couplets
- 1:1 for all active labors, VBACs, Laboring Magnesium sulfate, Laboring Insulin
- 1:1-2 for triage, early labor/cervical ripening
Staffing Description
Unit secretary available Monday to Friday, PCT from 03:00 to 11:30, and OB scrub tech available 24/7.
Equipment & Documentation
Type of Equipment: GE fetal monitors, Novii S
Documentation System: CPN and Meditech
Scheduling Requirements
Utilize Timpani scheduling; preferences highly considered. No floating policy applies.
Patient Experience Expectations
Bedside shift report is required for every shift, every time.
Certifications & Skills
Required Certifications: BLS, NRP, Stable, AWHONN Intermediate fetal monitoring
Requested Skill Set:
- Must have Labor and Delivery experience
- Intermediate fetal monitoring and Triage experience
- Advanced skills: Couplet care, circulating in OR
Procedures Performed on Unit
- Vaginal deliveries
- Versions
- C/S
- Epidurals
- Postpartum tubals
- Cerclage removal
- Circumcisions
Dress Code
Required uniform: Shocking pink scrubs (no pale pink or mauve).
