Unit Information:

• Number of Beds: 30
• Number of Staff: 40+
• Type of Staff:
  • Day Shift: 1 Charge/CNC; 4-5 RNs/LPNs, 2-3 NAs
  • Night Shift: 1 Charge/CNC; 4-5 RNs/LPNs, 2-3 NAs
• Patient Ratios:
  • SD/ICU: 2-4:1
  • Med-Surg: 5-6:1
  • 2-3 PCT on floor as appropriate
• Type of Equipment: IV pumps, SCDs, Nova Stat glucometer, wound vac, Baxter feeding pump, Lift equipment as appropriate, Pyxis (nurses only)
• EMR: Cerner

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care in an acute care setting.
• Monitoring patient conditions and reporting changes to the healthcare team.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Perform procedures including IV starts, central venous lines, arterial lines, Foley catheters, EKG monitoring, and wound care.

Qualifications:

• Required Certifications:
  • BLS for all RNs; ACLS must be completed before the end of orientation.
  • PCT/NAs are required to have BLS.
• Preferred Experience:
  • RNs with ICU/Stepdown experience.
  • Staff with 1 year of Med-Surg experience is preferred.

The ideal candidate should be able to function in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. We care for all levels of care, from Med-Surg to ICU.

Work Schedule:

Rotating weekends and holiday shifts according to staffing matrix. 3 Monday and Friday shifts every 6 weeks.

Dress Code:

• Nurses: Navy blue scrubs
• NAs: Galaxy/Royal blue scrubs

Team Environment:

The Acute Care Unit utilizes a Team-Based Care model. All care providers, including MDs, nurses, case management, pharmacists, and PT/OT, meet daily to discuss patient care, treatments, and discharge needs.
