Job Opportunity: Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic healthcare team. This nursing position offers a night shift schedule and provides care in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and ensuring optimal outcomes for patients with various medical conditions.

Shift Details

• Shift: 12-hour Nights, 18:45 - 07:15
• Start Date: November 3
• Length of Contract: 91 weeks
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Typically 2 out of 3 holidays

Unit Information

• Department: Medical-Surgical | Telemetry
• Number of Beds: 90 (double occupancy)
• Nurse-Patient Ratio: 1:5-6 during days, 1:6 during nights

Patient Care Responsibilities

As a Medical-Surgical RN, you will be responsible for:

• Providing comprehensive care to patients diagnosed with common conditions such as pneumonia, COPD, AKI, and post-operative cases including lap cholecystectomy and appendectomy.
• Administering medications and treatments as prescribed, including but not limited to titrating heparin and furosemide infusions.
• Utilizing Epic EMR for patient charting and data management.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will possess:

• At least 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in a specialty setting.
• Required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Preferred: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
• Ability to work within a 100-mile radius and flexibility in scheduling is required.

Support Staff

• Patient Care Assistants (PCAs)—approximately 8-12 per nurse.
• Dedicated Telemetry Technicians, allowing RNs to focus on direct patient care.

Orientation and Training

• Clinical orientation includes one day of Unit Orientation, one day of Epic training, and one day on the floor.
• No 48-hour guarantees in scheduling requests.
