Registered Nurse (RN) - Day Shift 3x12

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality care by ensuring that the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission, forming the basis of individualized care plans.
  • Identify patient teaching needs and collaborate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to set goals related to diagnoses.
  • Provide timely updates on patient status for Initial and Re-evaluation Team Conferences.
  • Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly in accordance with policy.
  • Participate in the patient rehabilitation program, focusing on the implementation and evaluation of patient care.
  • Initiate discharge planning upon admission and begin patient teaching in anticipation of discharge.
  • Communicate pertinent information regarding changes in patient status to support continuity of care and patient safety.
  • Supervise, direct, and provide training to ancillary nursing personnel, using effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ensure personal and environmental safety in compliance with hospital and nursing policies.
  • Contribute positively to unit dynamics, providing reassurance and direction to staff, patients, and families.
  • Maintain communication with management and senior nursing staff regarding service needs for supplies and equipment.
  • Assume charge responsibility after orientation period as requested.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and education.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively to meet patient needs.
  • Perform additional duties as requested.

Qualifications

  • BLS certification required prior to first shift.
  • ACLS certification required prior to first shift (specific to certain facilities).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience highly desired.
  • Completion of at least one assignment with the current agency required.
  • PCU experience is a requisite.
