Job Description: Cardiac Cath Lab Position

Shift Details

Shift: 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Unit Information

Location: 495 Medical Center Blvd, Second Floor Heart Tower

Number of Labs: 6 labs (4 Cath/Structural, 2 EP)

Number of Staff: 29

Staff Types:

• Radiology Techs
• Registered Nurses
• Schedulers
• Surgical Aides

Patient Ratios: 3-4 staff to 1 patient

Equipment Used

GE/Philips X-ray, Maclab/Cardiolab and Merge Hemo documentation, Merge Cardio, CSI, EKOs, Laser-Philips, IVUS-Philips, OCT-Abbott, Rotablator, Shockwave, FFR/IFR, and 3 vendors: ESI, Rhythmia, Carto, S70/Vivid EMR Meditech.

Typical Procedures

• Left Heart Catheterization (LHC)
• Peripheral Procedures
• Pacemaker Insertions
• Defibrillator Insertions
• Watchman/Amulet Procedures
• TAVRs (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement)
• Mitral Clips
• EP (Electrophysiology) Studies
• EP Ablations
• Cardiomems Procedures

Required Skills and Qualifications

Must Have:

• Cath Lab experience
• Experience with PCI's (Percutaneous Coronary Interventions)
• Pacemakers, defibrillators, peripheral angiograms, Impella, balloon pump

Preferred:

• Basic knowledge of Electrophysiology (EP)

Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)

Work Environment and Expectations

This role requires the ability to float between the Cath Lab and EP as one cohesive team. The dress code is scrubs provided from the scrub machine.

On-Call and Weekend Requirements

On-call duty averages 8 days per month, which includes 1 weekend. Expect to stay late as needed to complete procedures.
