Job Title: Med Surg Tele Nurse

Shift Details

Shift: 12-Hour Days (06:45 AM - 07:15 PM)

Start Date: November 3rd (Start dates are not flexible)

Unit Overview

Department: Med Surg | Tele

Patient Capacity: 90 Beds (Double Occupancy)

Nurse Patient Ratios:

• Days: 1:5-6
• Nights: 1:6

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years as RN with at least 1 year in a specialty area
• Certifications: BLS required; ACLS preferred
• Epic EMR Proficiency: Must have experience within the last two years

Patient Care Responsibilities

Common diagnoses include:

• Pneumonia
• COPD
• Radiation Patients
• AKI
• Occasional Procedures: Lap Chole, Appendectomy, etc.

RN Responsibilities: Nurses are required to titrate Heparin and Lasix drips; non-titrated for other medications. Charge Nurses may take assignments if needed.

Support Staff

Patient Care Assistants (PCA): 8-12 PCA per RN on the unit.

Respiratory Therapy Equipment: BiPAP and stable trach available.

Tele/Monitor Techs: Dedicated monitor techs available; travelers do not need to read telemetry.

Scheduling Details

Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Holiday Requirement: Typically, 2-3 holidays per year

Low Census On-Call: Yes

Floating Requirements: MedSurg, stable low acuity in ICU, RDU, and Foothills clinic

Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Orientation

Number of Shifts for Orientation: One NEO, one clinical ed/EPIC, one day floor.

Cancellation Policy

The client may cancel hours equivalent to the weekly guaranteed hours for the assignment (36, 40, or 48 hours) for a 13-week assignment. For all 26-week assignments, the cancellation policy will be doubled.
