**Job Description: Night Shift Cardiac Step-Down Nurse** We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Cardiac Step-Down Nurse for a 12-hour night shift position in a highly regarded healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to cardiac patients in a progressive care unit. This position requires a commitment to patient safety, teamwork, and professional development. **Key Responsibilities:** - Provide comprehensive nursing care to cardiac step-down unit patients with varying acuity levels. - Monitor patients' vital signs and manage telemetry monitoring. - Administer medications and treatments as prescribed while ensuring adherence to safety protocols. - Utilize advanced medical equipment, including IV pumps, pulse oximeters, wound vacs, glucometers, and oxygen delivery devices. - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create and implement effective care plans. - Educate patients and their families regarding health management and discharge planning. - Remain adaptable to the needs of the unit, including potential floating to other areas if needed. **Requirements:** - Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a similar cardiac step-down or progressive care setting. - Active Virginia or Compact nursing license required at time of submission. - Current certifications in ACLS and BLS are mandatory. - Proficiency in using Cerner or similar electronic health records is preferred. - Previous travel nursing experience is required. **Patient Population:** - The nurse will care for patients with cardiac conditions, requiring vigilance and comprehensive nursing interventions. **Additional Information:** - Start dates are every other Monday, with credentialing required one week prior to start. - All requests for time off must be submitted and approved prior to acceptance. - Candidates must be willing to engage with and support nursing students and new hires as part of a collaborative healthcare team. - Experience with specific hospital equipment such as SCDs, bladder scanners, vein finders, and chest tubes is beneficial.
