**Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg DRMU (Diabetic Renal Unit)** **Shift: 12-Hour Day Shift** **Job Description:** We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Med Surg Diabetic Renal Unit (DRMU) for 12-hour day shifts. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a teaching hospital environment, where you will frequently collaborate with students and new hires, contributing to a culture of support and education. **Key Responsibilities:** - Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the Med Surg DRMU. - Monitor and assess patient conditions, implementing appropriate interventions. - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. - Educate patients and their families on disease management, treatment plans, and health maintenance. - Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards. **Requirements:** - Minimum of 2 years of experience in a relevant specialty, specifically in medical-surgical nursing. - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred. - Travel experience is required, with a preference for candidates who have worked in teaching hospitals or have charge nurse experience. - Active Virginia (VA) or Compact License is required at the time of submission. - All requests for time off (RTO) must be submitted in the application packet. **Orientation:** - New hires will participate in orientation sessions held every other week on Mondays. **Schedule:** - 12-hour day shifts ending on Saturdays, with a commitment to work 2-3 weekends per month based on unit needs. **Other Information:** - This position does not require floating to other units. - The hospital reserves the right to cancel assignments up to 36 hours in advance due to patient census changes.
