**Job Title: Registered Nurse - Stepdown Care Unit (SCU)** **Shift:** 07:00 PM - 07:00 AM **Unit Details:** - **Beds:** 24-bed Stepdown Care Unit (SCU) - **Patient Ratios:** 1:3-4 - **Census:** Typically operates at 98-99% capacity **Patient Population:** - Patients requiring intermediate care between ICU and med/surg levels. - Common cases include post-cardiac procedures, stable ventilator weans, and telemetry monitoring. **Unit Layout & Amenities:** - U-shaped layout with a centrally located nursing station for easy access to all patient rooms. - Pyxis machines located at both ends of the hall for efficient medication access. - Large windows in each patient room for visibility from the hallways. - A centralized clean supply area for staff convenience. **Support Services:** - Close collaboration with the White Team (cardiology team) for accessible support of cardiac patients. - Utilization of the CenTrack system to manage and silence alarms effectively, enhancing the care environment. **General Information:** Registered nurses in the SCU are responsible for providing care to patients who require close monitoring but are more stable than ICU patients. Candidates should be comfortable with telemetry, managing post-surgical recovery, and providing support for patients transitioning out of critical care.
