Job Description
**Job Title: Night Shift Labor and Delivery Nurse** **Job Description:** We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our dynamic team on the Night Shift (18:45 - 07:15). This role will involve providing high-quality care for obstetrical patients during the intrapartum, antepartum, and postpartum periods. **Key Responsibilities:** - Provide hands-on nursing care to patients throughout the labor and delivery process. - Circulate for Cesarean sections and perform sterile vaginal exams. - Deliver immediate newborn care and maintain sterile procedures. - Manage a patient ratio of 2:1, assisting with an average of 20 births in a 24-hour period, including high-risk antepartum and postpartum cases. - Participate in routine outpatient procedures such as antenatal fetal surveillance and intravenous hydration. - Administer medications and monitor patient responses, ensuring the safety and well-being of both mothers and newborns. - Float to other units as needed in accordance with patient care requirements and staffing needs. **Qualifications:** - Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a high-volume, challenging labor and delivery unit; 3 years preferred. - Must have experience with circulating to the operating room (OR) for cesarean deliveries. - Required certifications include BCLS, AWHONN Intermediate or AWHONN Advanced, and NRP. - Familiar with charting systems, specifically Epic, is essential. **Shift Details:** - Night shift: 18:45 - 07:15. - Available contract lengths: 13 to 26 weeks. - Requirement to work a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule, along with the expectation to fulfill holiday work obligations. **Fast-Paced Environment:** This unit is recognized for its high acuity and rapid pace; as such, candidates should possess strong organizational skills and the ability to function effectively under pressure.
