**Job Title: Contract Charge Nurse – Operating Room/Surgery** **Shift:** Monday to Friday, 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM **Contract Length:** 13 Weeks **Location:** Round Rock Medical Center, Main Building, First Floor **Overview:** We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Charge Nurse for our Operating Room/Surgery unit. The Charge Nurse will play a critical role in coordinating patient care, leading the nursing staff, and ensuring the smooth operation of the surgical unit. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with a diverse team and state-of-the-art surgical equipment. **Key Responsibilities:** - Lead and manage the nursing team in the Operating Room, ensuring quality patient care and safety. - Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other medical professionals to deliver effective surgical care. - Supervise daily activities and patient flow in the surgical unit, maintaining optimal staffing levels and productivity. - Assist in training and mentoring of new staff and students. - Participate in the planning and execution of patient care strategies, adapting to the needs of the surgical team and patients. - Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and hospital policies. **Qualifications:** - Current RN license with relevant charge nurse experience in an Operating Room setting. - Minimum of 1 year of general surgical experience, with expertise in orthopedic and neurosurgery preferred. - Familiarity with Meditech EMR system. - Comprehensive knowledge of operating room protocols and procedures. - Ability to handle various types of cases including general, orthopedic, and vascular surgeries. **Preferred Skills:** - Experience in CVOR, with at least two years of training in adult open heart and endovascular surgeries. - Trauma experience as either an RN or Tech. - Ability to adapt to different types of surgical cases and work collaboratively within a diverse team. **Work Environment:** - The unit consists of 11 operating rooms with a staff of 40, including RNs, technicians, and patient care technicians. - Patient-to-staff ratios typically at 1:1. **Best Personality Fit:** We are looking for someone who is flexible, works well within a team, and is open to picking up extra shifts as needed.
