**Job Description: Radiation Therapist** **Shift:** 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday **Number of Openings:** 1 **Contract Length:** 13 Weeks **Location:** 2800 West Grand Boulevard, Radiation Oncology Department **Position Overview:** We are seeking a qualified Radiation Therapist to join our team in the Radiation Oncology department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for administering radiation treatment in a safe and effective manner. This includes reviewing patient prescriptions and treatment plans, operating treatment machines, and documenting patient interactions and treatment details. **Key Responsibilities:** - Review patient prescriptions to ascertain the type of treatment required, affected areas, and treatment history. - Safely position patients utilizing immobilization devices and administer ionizing radiation as prescribed by the physician. - Operate treatment machines (e.g., linear accelerators, HDR) with precision. - Verify radiation prescriptions prior to treatment and confirm total radiation dose in patient charts following treatment. - Document treatment in inpatient charts and localize patient markings on a daily basis. - Complete ongoing imaging of patients in accordance with departmental policy. - Assist patients with appointment scheduling and coordinate transportation and medical needs. - Refer patients to social workers and nurses for additional support as necessary. - Rotate through treatment areas and assume duties of simulation as assigned. - Maintain cleanliness in therapy rooms and ensure proper stock of linens and medical supplies. - Adhere to the quality assurance policies of the department, including chart checks and machine warm-up. - Mentor radiation therapy students as required by their educational programs. - Perform additional duties as assigned or requested. **Qualifications:** - **Education:** Bachelor's Degree preferred. - **Licensure/Certification:** A.R.R.T. Radiation Therapy Technology Certification or registry eligible. BLS certification required. - **Experience:** Minimum of 1 year of experience in radiation therapy is required. Experience with ARIA and TRUEBEAM systems is preferred. **Skills:** - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Strong communication and customer service skills, demonstrating respect for diversity. - Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes and technologies. **Working Conditions:** The role is primarily in a normal office environment with minimal exposure to noise or extreme temperatures. Physical requirements include lifting patients and moving equipment, with capabilities of lifting up to 50 lbs. There may be potential exposure to radiation, mitigated by adherence to safety protocols.
