**Job Title: Unit Manager - Nursing** **Shift:** Days, Varies **Position Overview:** We are seeking an experienced Unit Manager to lead a dynamic team of healthcare professionals in a specialty critical care, specialty care, or non-specialty patient care unit. This position holds 24-hour responsibility for supervising day-to-day operations, managing staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. The Unit Manager will work collaboratively with nursing staff, healthcare providers, and administrative leadership to achieve departmental goals and maintain compliance with regulatory standards. **Key Responsibilities:** - Supervise and direct the work of Assistant Unit Managers, Registered Nurses, and support staff; assign and evaluate work performance, and handle personnel actions including hiring, discipline, and scheduling. - Oversee patient care planning, implementation, and evaluation, ensuring that assignments are aligned with staff competencies and patient needs. - Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, safety initiatives, and training programs in compliance with established regulations and best practices. - Monitor staffing levels to ensure adequate coverage and manage budgetary requirements while controlling labor costs. - Establish objectives of care, conduct clinical rounds, address any quality issues, and collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams. - Manage the unit budget, including human and material resource utilization, and prepare reports to track financial performance. - Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies and develop necessary documentation for accreditation and survey readiness. - Monitor patient satisfaction survey results, implement improvement strategies, and promote a positive work environment for staff engagement. - Provide oversight for the education and orientation of new staff, ensuring compliance with required training standards. - Review patient data and condition assessments to identify areas for improvement and implement performance enhancement initiatives. - Perform professional nursing duties and provide temporary relief as needed. **Qualifications:** - A minimum of 4 years of nursing experience is required; 5+ years preferred. - At least 1 year of recent supervisory experience in a labor delivery or critical care setting is required. - An active RN license and relevant certifications (e.g., ACLS, BLS, AWHONN, NRP) are necessary. - A Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) with a Master’s in Healthcare Administration (MA) is required. - Previous NICU experience is a plus. - Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential for this role.
