8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday; 0630-1500 and/or 0900-1730; call opportunity available, but not required.

Job Description

The Surgical Technologist is responsible for assisting in the delivery of patient care in the Operating Room under the supervision of professional nursing staff. This role involves following best practices in asepsis and operating room protocols to ensure optimal patient care.

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of normal and pathological anatomy and physiology in patient care.
• Establish and maintain a sterile field, performing gowning, gloving, and surgical scrubbing as per protocols.
• Assist with skin preparation and draping of patients.
• Manage and maintain sterile and unsterile supplies effectively.
• Demonstrate organization and efficiency in setting up surgical instruments.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon, minimizing patient stress during procedures.
• Participate in emergency situations using established procedures calmly and effectively.
• Adhere to infection control policies and safety procedures within the Operating Room.
• Engage in continuous education and skill development in surgical practices.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a Surgical Technologist program accredited by a recognized institution.
• A minimum of three years of operating room experience preferred, with a background in Cesarean Sections and Orthopedic, General, and Vascular surgery.
• Current certification as a Surgical Technologist is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification compliant with the American Heart Association, renewed every two years.
