Job Description: Orthopedic Med-Surg Nurse

Position Overview

Join our dedicated team as an Orthopedic Med-Surg Nurse in Richmond, VA. We are seeking compassionate, skilled professionals to provide exceptional care for patients following orthopedic procedures such as hip, knee, and spine surgeries.

Shift Details

• Shift: 19:00 - 07:00
• Contract Duration: 91 weeks
• Hours: Guaranteed hours for 3 twelve-hour shifts a week, with every other weekend required.

Unit Information

The unit is a purpose-built facility with:

• Location: Richmond, VA
• Number of Beds: 25
• Patient Ratios: 5/6+:1
• Staffing: 4-5 nurses and 1-3 PCTs, with a department secretary on-site during the day.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care for post-operative orthopedic patients.
• Perform bedside shift report and safety rounding (1 hour during the day, 2 hours at night).
• Utilize AIDET for all patient interactions.
• Maintain effective communication and connections with patients, treating them with courtesy and respect.

Qualifications

• Certifications Required: BLS
• Experience: Must have experience with post-operative patients.
• Preferred Skills: Meditech experience and a positive attitude.
• Advanced Skills: No advanced skills required.

Equipment and Documentation

• General nursing equipment for the care of medical-surgical patients.
• Documentation System: Meditech.
