Job Description: Night Medical Surgical RN

Shift Details

Type: Night Shift (3x12-Hour, 18:45 - 07:15)

Hours: Option of 36 or 48 hours per week

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) for a night shift position. This role requires a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with an emphasis on travel competencies and the ability to float to various units as needed. The RN will provide care to adults and geriatric patients in need of medical services in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients on a medical surgical unit.
• Monitor and assess patient health status while managing telemetry patients.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including blood product administration and CVA management.
• Ensure excellent communication with interdisciplinary teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and Social Services.
• Maintain accurate patient records and charting in Epic.
• Participate in weekend coverage and float to like units as required.

Qualifications

• Experience: 2 years minimum nursing experience preferred.
• Certifications: BLS and NIHSS required.
• Skills:
  • Accessing Ports
  • Central line blood draws
  • Telemetry remote monitoring
  • Wound care/Wound Vac management
  • CPAP/BiPAP care
  • Feeding tube care
  • IV starts and peripheral line management
  • Pre/Post Hemodialysis Management
• Licensure: Valid Kansas or Compact RN License (required at time of submission).

Facility Details

The facility has a capacity of 31 rooms and 29 beds and serves a daily census of approximately 24 patients. The unit provides care for a variety of medical conditions and procedures for stable patients who require remote telemetry monitoring without being on cardiac drips. Interdisciplinary support enhances patient care through services including Pharmacy, Radiology, and Rapid Response Teams.

Travel Requirements

Travel experience is required. Candidates must be willing to float to similar units and be adaptable to varying schedules, particularly with weekend coverage.
