Emergency Department Nurse - Level III Trauma Center

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Nurse to join our dynamic team at a Level III Trauma Center. This position requires expertise in a wide range of emergency care, including pediatric and adult cases. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality care in a fast-paced environment.

Shift Details

• Shift Type: Day 3x12-Hour (12:00 PM - 12:00 AM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends in a 4-week posted schedule)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care in a combined Adult/Pediatric Emergency Department.
• Manage dysrhythmias and multisystem organ dysfunction/failure.
• Administer blood products and manage central lines.
• Perform phlebotomy, starting IVs, and continuous IV sedation.
• Care for patients with neuro-trauma, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury.
• Assess and manage various emergency conditions such as abdominal pain, asthma, burns, and infections.
• Identify and report potential abuse and mental/behavioral health conditions.
• Care for ventilated patients and those with gunshot wounds or traumatic amputations.

Qualifications

• Minimum Experience: 2 years of Emergency Department experience.
• Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC.
• Preferred Skills/Certifications: CPI, TCAR.
• Proficiency in the EPIC charting system is mandatory.

Unit Details

• Patient Age Groups: Neonates, Adolescents, Infants, Adults, Pediatrics, Geriatrics.
• Interdisciplinary support includes Respiratory Services, Radiology, and Pharmacy.
• Daily patient ratio experience of 1:5 is required.

Additional Information

• Candidates must hold a valid NY state license.
• Local candidates within 75 miles from the facility are not accepted.
• Must be able to float across different units as necessary.
• 24-hour unit orientation provided.
• Guaranteed contract length of 56 weeks.
