Cardiac Registered Nurse (RN) - 12 Hour Night Shift

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Cardiac Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic healthcare team. This position involves working 12-hour night shifts in a fast-paced unit, providing essential care to patients with cardiac conditions and other medical needs.

Unit Overview

This unit is dedicated to cardiac care with 10 beds and an average daily census of 5+. Nurses will have the opportunity to work with advanced cardiac devices, including Balloon and Impella Pumps. The RN will also need to be flexible and float to the PCU and Med Surg as necessary, depending on census needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to both high and lower acuity patients.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Monitor patients’ vital signs and health status.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and collaborate on patient care plans.
  • Float to PCU and Med Surg as needed based on unit requirements.

Qualifications

  • Current RN license required.
  • Strong background in cardiac nursing is essential.
  • Experience with Balloon Pump and Impella Pump is highly preferred.
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS.
  • Ability to work weekends, with a minimum of 2 weekends per month, subject to unit needs.
  • Pediatric experience is highly preferred, but not required.

Shift Details

Shifts are from 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM. Block scheduling is not available, and nurses must be flexible with their schedules based on unit requirements.

Patient Demographics

The patient population includes adults and children over 8 years of age requiring ICU-level care, with common diagnoses such as:

  • Open heart surgery
  • Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
  • Overdose (OD)
  • Sepsis
  • Cerebrovascular Accidents (CVAs) with TPA
  • Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
  • Some Neuro cases (no ICP yet)
