**Job Description: Inpatient Surgery Nurse** Are you a dedicated and compassionate nurse looking to join a fast-paced inpatient surgical unit? We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses to provide high-quality care to a diverse patient population in an Inpatient Surgery setting. The unit houses 46 beds and focuses on post-operative care, ensuring that patients receive the attention and treatment they need during their recovery process. **Key Responsibilities:** - Provide comprehensive nursing care to general post-operative patients and mixed acute medical cases. - Administer frequent pain management and IV medications, monitor vital signs, and perform dressing changes and other treatments as needed. - Manage chest tubes, NG tubes, TPN, and wound vacs, while ensuring meticulous attention to patient comfort and safety. - Collaborate with the healthcare team, utilizing patient care management software for documentation and care coordination. - Conduct full admission assessments for new patients, ensuring an acceptance note with a 2 RN skin and belongings check is documented. - Maintain accurate intake and output records, perform pain assessments, and complete shift assessments as required. **Patient Demographics:** - The patient population varies widely in age and gender, with common diagnoses including urology, neurology, bariatric surgery, plastic surgery, and orthopedic surgery. **Qualifications:** - Valid Nursing License. - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. - Experience in inpatient surgical nursing preferred. - Strong clinical skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to patient-centered care. **Staffing and Support:** - A nurse-to-patient ratio of no more than 6:1, ensuring adequate attention to patient needs. - The charge nurse oversees the unit and assists as needed, with scheduled nursing assistants supporting patient care. **Technology and Equipment:** Familiarity with MASIMO for non-invasive monitoring, bedside monitoring systems, EKG machines, and bladder scanners is beneficial.
