**Job Description: Surgical Technologist** **Position Overview:** We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Surgical Technologist to join our Surgical Operating Room team. This role requires observing and practicing sterile techniques, maintaining asepsis, and assisting the surgeon as needed while actively participating in patient care and safety. The ideal candidate will effectively collaborate with OR staff to provide excellent surgical support and ensure an organized, efficient, and safe operating environment. **Job Responsibilities:** - Adhere to infection control policies and demonstrate expertise in surgical scrub technique. - Maintain sterile technique preoperatively and intra-operatively. - Assist the surgeon with gowning, gloving, draping, and passing instruments during procedures, anticipating the surgeon’s needs for instruments, sutures, and equipment. - Keep an organized operative field, ensuring instruments are clean and in their proper place at all times. - Conduct accurate counts of sponges, tape, needles, dissectors, and instruments. - Prepare for surgical cases by assembling supplies and equipment according to preference cards while identifying any potential conflicts or issues. - Properly care for instruments and supplies after each surgical case. - Create and maintain a safe surgical environment, identifying potential hazards and assisting the RN circulator with preoperative equipment checks. - Display knowledge of potential hazards within the Operating Room, including equipment, chemicals, and gases. - Provide mentorship and support to new OR personnel, utilizing experienced OR staff as a resource. - Assist in suturing, retracting, and suctioning under the direction of the surgeon when needed. - Handle and identify specimens per policy guidelines. - Facilitate quick and efficient turnover of the OR between cases. - Participate in rotating on-call duties, including up to 3 shifts per week and one working weekend every four weeks. - Perform additional responsibilities as requested. **Schedule and Call Requirements:** - Day rotation (Monday through Friday) for 40 hours per week over a 13-week contract, typically starting between 6 AM and 7 AM with options for 5, 8-hour shifts or 4, 10-hour shifts. - Up to 3 call shifts per week, with shifts ranging from 8 to 16 hours. **Qualifications:** - **Required Education:** High school diploma or equivalent. - **Required Certifications:** Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA or National Health Career Association) and BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross). - **Preferred Experience:** Previous surgical technologist experience and experience in the operating room. **Skills:** - Attention to detail and the ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment. **Why Choose Us?** At ARMStaffing, we take care of our nurses!
