**Job Description: Emergency Room Registered Nurse** **Shift:** 19:00 - 07:00 **Location:** Salem, VA **Unit Information:** - **Number of Beds:** 27 - **Staffing:** 50 Registered Nurses (RNs), 25 Medics - **Typical Staff on Day Shift:** 1 Charge Nurse, 5 RNs, 2-3 Medics (increased by 4-5 RNs at 11 AM and by 1-2 RNs at 3 PM) - **Typical Staff on Night Shift:** 1 Charge Nurse, 5 RNs, 2-3 Medics - **Patient Ratios:** 4-6:1 **Key Responsibilities:** - Provide high-quality emergency care to patients in a fast-paced environment. - Perform essential procedures including Rapid Sequence Intubation (RSI), sepsis interventions, and stroke protocol with tPA administration. - Manage central line placements and care for psychiatric patients, ensuring adherence to EMTALA regulations during patient transfers. - Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver comprehensive emergency healthcare. **Required Qualifications:** - Completion of 2-3 travel assignments. - Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in an Emergency Room (ER) setting. - Essential certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC. - Preferred certifications: ENPC, NRP, NIHF. **Preferred Qualities:** - Candidates with experience in high-acuity ERs or fast-paced settings will be prioritized. - Ideal candidates should possess a relaxed, easy-going demeanor while being team-oriented and respectful of colleagues and patients. **Additional Information:** - No floating to other areas is required. - Dress Code: Navy blue or white scrubs. - Weekend Requirements: Four weekend shifts (either Friday or Saturday for nights; Saturday or Sunday for days) within a four-week scheduling period. - Contract Length: 91 weeks. - Number of Positions: 1-2 (Guaranteed hours may vary).
