**Job Title: Med Surg RN – Diabetic Renal Unit (DRMU) - Day Shift** **Job Description:** We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Med Surg Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in the Diabetic Renal Unit (DRMU). This position is to start on 10/20 and is for 12-hour day shifts. The assignments will conclude on Saturdays, and while working in this dynamic teaching hospital, you will have the opportunity to engage and collaborate with students and new hires, fostering a culture of support and teamwork. **Key Responsibilities:** - Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the Med Surg DRMU, focusing on those with diabetic and renal issues. - Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans. - Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, while monitoring patient responses. - Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records. - Educate patients and their families on managing diabetes and renal health. - Participate in ongoing nursing education and training within the hospital. **Qualifications:** - Minimum of 2 years of experience in Med Surg or relevant specialty. - Active Virginia / Compact RN License at the time of submission. - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred. - Previous travel nursing experience is mandatory. - Teaching hospital or charge nurse experience is highly preferred. - Must be flexible with scheduling, including the ability to work 2-3 weekends per month based on unit needs. - All requests for time off (RTO) must be submitted alongside the application. **Working Conditions:** - The position requires the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment, responding to patient needs effectively. - Must be available for orientation every other Monday.
